The
Peterbilt with a Cummins engine was purchased in
July 2006 at the Florida
Tow show as a chassis cab, a double passenger
seat was added as per M8 Recovery’s specification
and sent to Miller Industries to have Century 5130
lifting equipment
fitted.
In addition
to this the Glasgow Company also specified additional marker
lights along the sides,at the front and
at the rear, so it would be highly unlikely that the
new M8 flagship
vehicle would go unnoticed.
It eventually arrived on these shores on 22 February 2007
after being delayed due to bad weather state side.It was
collected at Southampton by Boniface Engineering and taken
to their base in Thetford for some more modifications to
strobe lights and to some of the chrome finishing extended
along with the internal lockers being kitted out with new
toolboxes and fittings.
The vehicle was delivered to their Hillington Depot in Glasgow
on 11 March 2007. From there it was signwritten and it
made its first public appearance at The Thistle Hotel in
Glasgow for a boxing night kindly sponsored by M8 for some
of their existing clientele.
The vehicle was registered on 1 April 2007 - registration
number MB 07 TOW and has been out working constantly ever
since in and around Central Scotland.
If the number of calls that the company have been getting
about this stunning looking vehicle whilst it has been
going about it’s work are anything to go by, initial
concerns about the vehicles conspicuity haven’t proven
to be a problem at all !
